Bowling For Soup (BFS) are, to all intents and purposes, a very soft sounding pop-punk band. Their melodic rock will certainly be seeing you listening to the CD over and over. Some songs make you want to sit back and relax, while others see you playing the infamous air guitar (albeit, not very often indeed).
Although, BFS don’t try to make you rock. Their music is happy, and it will put you in a good mood. The “nu-school-punk” genre has spawned a wave of bands who have incorporated humor into their music, and BFS are no exception. With lyrics like “You’re a bitch, but I love you anyway” - The Bitch song and “I was the one who had sh*t for brains” - All figured out, you can easily see how the element of humor has been cleverly implemented, and these lines really have relevance to the other lyrics in the song. I also noticed something else with this album; there is very little use of profanity (bad language), which is unusual for my CD collection…
The album also sports a cover of Brian Adams Summer of ‘69. If you didn’t know any better, you would swear this song was, like the rest, by BFS. That’s how good these guys are. Bands do not normally include covers on their final releases, but this definitely adds to the albums credibility. This album is like a jam-filled doughnut; The further you bite through it, the better it gets…
