Grey Daze, a rewind back to the “daze” before the existence on Linkin Park…
This CD kicks off with B12, the very fist Grey Daze song I heard (on MP3 format). It was very strange to hear the voice of Chester Bennington put to this style of music. This guy can sing. He has the greatest set of vocals in modern music, and I’m tempted to say ever.
After that, I downloaded What’s in the Eye. What an amazing song. I discovered Grey Daze shortly before I went on an “educational visit” to Paris with my College. I quickly loaded the song onto my portable MP3 player which I took with me. When we set off on the coach at 4 in the morning, I remember laid up against the window listening to this song. The trees and bushes passing, lighted by the street lamps on the motorway. In time is another example of how Grey Daze is not a happy band. Their music is in the most part, slow, yet poetic and again, Chesters vocals set the dark, depressive mood.
I will point out that Grey Daze does not resemble Linkin Park in any way. Musically or lyrically. Grey Daze songs tend to lean more towards life, and don’t focus on such philosophical themes as Linkin Park. I would recommend this album totally, Grey Daze are not around any more but I don’t see why their music shouldn’t be. Check it out.
