Linkin park – Reanimation

This album, and the very concept of it’s existence beggars one question for me: why? Why not write new material and release that? Why remix your entire album and then release it again? I thought it was greedy enough to release 5 singles on their debut album, but Linkin Park have gone over the top this time…

I mean, even if the songs were good it would go some way to justify the pitiful existence of this hip-hop orientated remixed mess. If you didn’t know what these songs were supposed to sound like, this album would leave you saying “what the hell is this?”. Some are too rap/hip hop based, and others seem like they’ve come straight from the big screen and sound like some cheesy movie theme-tune.

And what the hell is with the names? How stupid is that? The most notable change in the songs from their original version is a few changed lyrics. Besides this, you have a horribly messed up digitally remastered album.

The opening track, Opening, is the biggest load of rubbish I’ve ever heard. One Step Closer (1stp Klosr) sounds no where near as much full of rage as the original. In The End (Enth E Nd) has been extended and most of the lyrics have been changed… Still prefer the original though. Runaway (Rnw@y) sounds pretty impressive, or the intro does anyway. Hi Voltage (H! Vltg3) didn’t appear on Hybrid Theory, and I already have the original, a remixed version AND the Reanimation version of the song on mp3. The Reanimation version is the worst. The previously unreleased track, Riff Raff, is purely instrumental.

All things considered, Linkin Park need to concentrate on writing new songs, and not trying to resurrect their tired out Hybrid Theory tracks. Hybrid Theory did well, and the songs are excellent… I just don’t see why this must be spoil.
