French head Nicolas Sarkozy paid a visit to Iraq for rebuilding the cold war between the US and Iraq after the French opposition to the US-led innovation to Iraq.That opposition led to US boycotts of French products. He met Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nouri Maliki.

As Obama is seeking to diminish the US commitment to Iraq while pressing European nations to enhance their support for the “mission Afghanistan”, Sarkozy made a trip to Baghdad.

This is his first visit to Iraq after the reign of Saddam Hussein which was overthrown in the year 2003. This visit, also involves, to evoke the sale of French Wine and cheese in America as some Americans boycotted them by calling French fries as “Freedom fries”. For this poly-reasons, French leader has been working to rebuild Franco-American relations which has reached a low point under his predecessor Mr.Chirac. It is to be noted that Mr.Sarkozy strengthened the deputation in Afghanistan and the country did not contribute to the coalition invasion of Iraq.
